Otter Mercator Black Carbon Steel
The Otter Mercator is the oldest knife of its kind, produced since 1867 with a folded steel handle and the original leaping cat emblem. Widely used by German soldiers in the 19th century, it was regarded as a weapon of last resort in close combat. In the K55K marking, the first K stands for the factory's address (Kaufmann), 55 for the street number and the second K for Katz, the cat.
