CAS Hanwei Katana Raptor Shinogi Zukuri
The CAS Hanwei Raptor katana has a 5160 carbon steel blade in a shinogi-zukuri shape with a full tang. It is supplied with a nylon carry bag.
Designed under the auspices of master James Williams, the Hanwei Raptor series was created for the cutting practitioner who does not necessarily have access to tatami mats but still wishes to practise and refine their technique. The blades, forged from high-carbon 5160 steel, are specially heat-treated to offer very high resilience and better tolerance of misaligned cuts than a conventional differentially hardened blade. This structure avoids excessive thickness and makes it possible to reproduce the weight and handling of the Japanese originals. The geometry of the edge makes it easier to cut soft and semi-hard materials without chipping, which allows a wide choice of targets. Use at your own risk.
