The blades, forged from high-carbon 5160 steel, are specially heat-treated to offer very high resilience and better tolerance of misaligned cuts than a conventional differentially hardened blade. This structure avoids excessive thickness and makes it possible to reproduce the weight and handling of the Japanese originals. The geometry of the edge makes it easier to cut soft and semi-hard materials without chipping, which allows a wide choice of targets.
